Hello World 2.0
The 2008 U.S. Election told us nothing about Politics. The country is still divided between Freedom and the Rule of Law as it has been since its inception. What we did learn was that the Internet changed the face of politics to include Social Media. This enormous change did not stop at the Elections. The President continues to broadcast weekly podcasts with updates from his Administration, and has unveiled numerous websites that allow Citizens to track government spending and comment on its use.
One thing I’ve learned from the previous Administration is that the Government sets the tone of the Country. This means that the trend of companies such as Google and the New York Times to open access to their data will soon become a necessity for businesses to survive. A high degree of trust will be expected by citizens and consumers alike, as will the ability to directly communicate with every level of the business, from the leaders down to the production line.
For this reason, I have decided to explore the Social Web in order to learn how to connect with others, so that I might share this information with those who wish to define their online identity. I hope that you will join me in my experiments on the Social Web by providing feedback on your experiences, or recommendations for others to explore. And if you are in business, small or large, get in touch with me to discuss how your company can define itself on the Social Web.
